Brisbane Symphonic Band
The Brisbane Symphonic Band is one of Brisbane's premier community bands with origins that date back to 1976. The band - currently conducted by Stephanie Smith - regularly performs in its own series concerts, at local and international festivals and as part of the Brisbane City Council's Bands in the Park program.
The Band's membership comprises of adults with varying degrees of musical experience, ranging from adult starters to semi-professionals. The band also performs a variety of music, ranging from orchestral pieces arranged for concert band, to jazz and popular music and movie themes. Some of the more challenging pieces the band has performed in recent years include Vesuvius (Tichelli), Masada (Hultgren) and Hoe Down (Copland).
New members over the age of 17 are always welcome to join!
Rehearsals
Day - Every Wednesday evening (and sometimes Sundays leading up to tours and other big events)
Time - 7.30 - 9.45pm
Venue - Trinity Wilston Uniting Church Hall (upstairs) on the corner of Kedron Brook Rd and Hawdon Street, Wilston (Brisbane, Australia)
